Portraits

My goal in painting a portrait is to capture the spirit of the subject. I strive to let that spirit burst forth out of the 2-dimensional canvas. Often working from photos that the client takes themselves, insures that the subject is caught in a comfortable way, that is characteristic of their movements, expressions, and surroundings. A conversation about the subject helps me to grasp their personality.
